“Per Ludos Equalitas”, equality through sport, is the Deaflympic motto under which deaf athletes worldwide hold their championships.
Under this motto, more than 200 active athletes from 34 countries will compete in the 5th World Bowling Championships for the Deaf in Europe’s largest bowling center, the Dream-Bowl Palace Unterföhring, from 01 to 12 August 2023.
As host, the German Deaf Sports Association will spare no effort to make the competitions and the entire event an unforgettable experience. The coveted medals are only part of the experience that the deaf athletes can expect with their team.
But success is not a gift, it has to be worked hard for. In order to be among the first on the international sports stage, the German bowlers have also prepared intensively for the World Championships in their own country, in order to live up to their reputation of being a safe medal bank.
For some, the World Championships will be an international debut, giving them the opportunity to test their game at a high level. For others, the competitions will bring back memories of previous championships, not least the 2018 European Championships, which was also held in Munich.
As President of the German Deaf Sports Association, I would like to convey my express thanks and appreciation to all the helpers, organizers and sponsors for their dedication and great commitment.
I am looking forward to exciting competitions and wish a smooth course and all participants a successful event.

DGSV-President
